Family: Archaeidae C. L. Koch & Berendt, 1854 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spiderfam:0020] Back

Gen. Eriauchenus O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1881 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spidergen:03593 ]
N.B.: the spelling Eriauchenius is a lapus (used by Forster & Platnick, 1984 and subsequent authors); synonymyzed with the Baltic amber fossil genus Archaea C. L. Koch & Berendt, 1854 by Simon, 1895a: 935; the removal of this synonymy by Wunderlich, 2004c: 778, 791 seems well supportedĀ  and is followed here, even though the earlier proposal by Lehtinen, 1967: 289 to revive Eriauchenus for the recent species was rejected by Forster & Platnick, 1984: 19 (indeed, based on Wunderlich's data, the five genera of Baltic amber archaeids he recognizes may constitute a monophyletic group that does not include the recent, Gondwanan taxa); see note under Afrarchaea.
