N.B.: considered valid by Grasshoff, 1976: 149; considered a junior synonym of Anetes Menge, 1850: 71 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spidergen:05995] (type A. coeletron Menge, 1850) by Bonnet, 1955: 325 (sub Araneus, by synonymy of the type species; the genus name Anetes was supressed by Simon, 1895a: 952); Breitling, 2019b: 23 discusses Agalenatea might be a subgenus of Araneus (based mainly on COI, see FAQ 7).
