N.B.: the type species is confirmed by ICZN, 1988 (Opinion 1488), after application by Kraus & Loerbroks, 1986; replacement name for Pachyptila Simon, 1864: 433 (described as subgenus of Thomisus Walckenaer, 1805) [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spidergen:06360] (type Thomisus villosus Walckenaer, 1837 = Heriaeus hirtus (Latreille, 1819)), preoccupied in Aves by Illiger, 1811; Pachyptila was originally spelled Pachyptile and corrected by Simon, 1875a: 203.
