N.B.: Portia was published in December 1878 (see Wanless, 1978f: 84); Sinis Thorell, 1878b (June): 269 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spidergen:05469] (preoccupied in Coleoptera by Heer 1862) was replaced by Linus Peckham & Peckham, 1886: 264, 289 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spidergen:05470]; Portia was considered a senior synonym of Linus (itself considered a senior synonym of Boethoportia Hogg, 1915b: 501 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spidergen:05468] (type B. ocellata Hogg, 1915 = Portia fimbriata (Doleschall, 1859)) by Clark, in Prószyński, 1971e: 385, through synonymy of type species) and Neccocalus Roewer, 1965: 20 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spidergen:05471] (type Cocalus africanus Thorell, 1899) by Wanless, 1978f: 84; not a senior synonym of Brettus Thorell, 1895 (Wanless, 1978f: 83).
