FAM. AGELENIDAE C. L. Koch, 1837

Last updated Oct. 27, 2004

N.B.: I follow Wunderlich (1986: 24) in considering Coelotes and allied genera to be more closely related to Amaurobius than to Agelena, but rather than synonymize the Agelenidae and Amaurobiidae (as proposed by Wunderlich), I have merely listed Coelotes and its relatives under Amaurobiidae; Lehtinen's (1967) transfers of genera near Cryphoeca to the Hahniidae and genera near Cicurina to the Dictynidae are followed here only to maintain consistency with Brignoli.

Gen. Textrix Sundevall, 1833

N.B.: not a senior synonym of Lycosoides Lucas, 1846 (Lehtinen, 1967: 245); Homann's (1961: 404) placement of this genus (and, implicitly, of Lycosoides and Maimuna Lehtinen, 1967) as a subfamily of Hersiliidae was rejected by Roth, 1963.

Transferred to other genera:
T. bovierlapierrei Kulczyn'ski, 1911 -- see Maimuna.
T. caparti de Blauwe, 1980 -- see Lycosoides.
T. coarctata (Dufour, 1831) -- see Lycosoides.
T. crassivulva Denis, 1954 -- see Lycosoides.
T. cretica Kulczyn'ski, 1903 -- see Maimuna.
T. flavomaculata (Lucas, 1846) -- see Lycosoides.
T. inornata O. P.-Cambridge, 1872 -- see Maimuna.
T. instabilis Denis, 1954 -- see Lycosoides.
T. leprieuri Simon, 1875 -- see Lycosoides.
T. libanica de Blauwe, 1980 -- see Maimuna.
T. parva Denis, 1954 -- see Lycosoides.
T. subfasciata Simon, 1870 -- see Lycosoides.
T. variegata Simon, 1870 -- see Lycosoides.
T. vestita C. L. Koch, 1841 -- see Maimuna.

In synonymy:
