Family: Liphistiidae Thorell, 1869 [urn:lsid:nmbe.ch:spiderfam:0001]
Back | Genus list
N.B.: this spelling (not Lipistiidae) on the Official List of Family and Generic Names in Zoology; considered a senior synonym of Heptathelidae Kishida, 1923: 242 by Raven, 1985a: 16; Heptathelidae revalidated by Li, 2022: 72 (which include all former liphistiid genera, with exception of Liphistius) and confirmed by Kulkarni, Wood & Hormiga, 2023: 485, f. 5; Breitling, 2022a: 3 re-united both families, but this is not followed here, as he omitted younger splittings of other families (e.g. Selden & Penney, 2010: 184) and the age of splitting is no sufficient reason to re-unite the families; Kishida, 1923: 242 erected the subfamily Anadiasthothelinae, which became a synonym of Liphistiidae by the synonymy of the type genus Anadiastothele Simon, 1903 with Liphistius  Schiødte, 1849 by Bristowe, 1933a: 1030 (by transfer of the type species).
